I believe You should see "everything" because almost all of my clients did not buy the one that they thought was perfect online and decided on one that didn't look as good until they got there!
You might consider a Reverse Mortgage Purchase. Before you stop reading, Yes, they used to Suck! Not anymore. You can still get to choose what to do with your equity when you either sell or pass away if you're buying your last home. I've had two clients, both in their 60's who sold in CA with a big profit. Next they bought in Nevada by putting down 1/2 the cost of the new homes (roughly 150K). They had no mortgage to pay. One sold for almost double the price, pocketed all the extra equity after paying off the reverse, and then moved into a new home with another Reverse Mortgage. The other passed away and her heirs inherited her property that had almost doubled in price after paying off the Reverse that had accumulated very slowly.
